Our Services
Acupuncture
Acupuncture is a 5000 year old Chinese medical procedure which stimulates the body’s own natural healing process in which fine needles are inserted at certain points. Acupuncture is only one of the therapies used in Traditional Chinese Medicine along with herbal and food therapy, moxibustion, Chinese massage (tuina) and cupping.
Chiropractic
Chiropractors are licensed to examine, diagnose and provide care to patients with a variety of health concerns related to the spine, joints and the effect on the nervous system. Chiropractors primarily use adjustments or manipulation but may use various other techniques to help with recovery and prevention, depending on the individual patient’s symptoms, signs and needs.
Osteopathy
Osteopathy is a manual therapy that focuses on assessing and treating various issues affecting the spine and joints. Osteopathic manual therapists use many stretching, mobilization and soft tissue techniques. The goal of treatment is to restore function of nerve impulses and improve circulation, leading to pain relief and greater ease of motion.
Orthotic Therapy
Orthotic therapy is a specific process of fitting braces or foot orthotics so that they help relieve foot, ankle, knee, leg, hip or back pain. Orthotic braces also can be applied to joints of the body like the elbow or wrist and ankle. Orthotics influence the structural and functional mechanics of moving joints, giving them support and stability.
Active Stretching
Active stretching helps with flexibility by using the body’s own muscles to move full range of motion (ROM). It is also referred to as dynamic stretching. This type of stretching, versus static stretching, teaches the muscle how to move rather than trying to force a muscle to lengthen. Active stretching actually warms muscle tissue by the muscle contracting and relaxing.
Rehabilitation Exercises
Rehabilitation exercises are patient specific exercises that aim to improve and restore range of motion, stability and functional ability and thereby prevent impairment. Rehabilitation also empowers the patient to improve by giving them personalized exercises that they can eventually do at home, thus allowing them independence.
Laser Therapy
Laser therapy or low level laser therapy or cold laser therapy and also know as photobiomodulation stands for Light Amplification by Stimulated Emission of Radiation. Certain wavelengths of laser therapy help reduce swelling, scarring and therefore pain and thus allowing the patient to resume activities sooner and therefore strengthen the injured tissue.
Manipulation
Joint manipulation, sometimes referred to as adjustments, is a manual therapy technique in which a specific, controlled force is applied to a joint, being spinal or peripheral ie. the ankle joint in a specific direction. Adjustments may provide immediate pain relief and increase the range of motion so the patient’s functional movement is restored sooner.
Mobilization Techniques
Mobilization is a general manual therapy technique used to make a fixed or tight part or soft tissue more moveable.
Electrical Muscle Stimulation
Electrical muscle stimulation (EMS) mimics the electrical signals of the body and causes the muscles to contract and relax, improves blood flow, helps repair muscles and decrease swelling. EMS can also block certain pain signals thereby making you more comfortable and able to resume activity sooner.
Massage Therapy
Massage therapy is the assessment and treatment of soft tissue and joints in the body to develop, maintain, or rehabilitate physical function, and relieve pain. Practitioners often combine Swedish techniques, trigger point release, myofascial release, and stretching to facilitate the desired changes specific to your needs and conditions.
